Proverbs 19

3 A person’s own folly leads to their ruin,
yet their heart rages against the Lord.

19 A hot-tempered person must pay the penalty;
rescue them, and you will have to do it again.
— Proverbs 19

What is our role in helping others?

We all know the two types of people Solomon is talking about here. Is it right, just and fair to simply get out of their way and allow them the natural consequences of their actions? Do we have a responsibility to pick up the pieces afterwards?

In terms of engaging the world as a Christian leader, this may be the most difficult aspect for me. I really don’t know what to do with this.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

How do you respond to those around you, even those whom you love, who blame the Lord for the consequences of their own folly? How do you allow others to suffer the consequences of their actions? How do you pick up the pieces? Or do you?   Share your thoughts below.
